Who can attend this Adventure?

People who own a hiking pack and aren’t afraid to use it. Including TEDx License Holders, members of Summit Series, Sandbox, and entrepreneur camps at Burning Man. Friends and partners are welcome, too — provided they can handle a little dirt.

Where is this happening?

You will be camping in the most intense biological system in the world: The Rainforest.

Tucked away within a dense forest landscape just 50 minutes from Panama City, our camp is in the perfect situation for exploring the surrounding jungle. The valley is accessible only by a rugged dirt road. Hitch a ride with us, or strap on your hiking boots and trek through the mountainous landscape.

It’s nature at its breathtaking best.

I’ve seen LOST. Is this dangerous?

There will not be any mysterious creatures or crazy people in the jungle. Well, maybe some crazy people.

I like crazy people. Is this like the TEDxSummit?

This TEDx Adventure is independently organized by veterans of the TEDx community (including Nate Mook, Ramy Nassar, and many others) and has no relation to the TEDxSummit, which is happening in Berlin in June 2014. Rather, this is an informal gathering in the beautiful wilderness of Panama where the agenda will be largely determined by you. It’s about connecting people from different networks from around the world who share the same values and sense of adventure. The TEDx Adventure model was pioneered by John Werner of TEDxBeaconStreet.

Cool. So what will we be doing?

You’ll have three days in the jungle to chart your own course while learning what you want, when you want, and walking away with experience few can claim. There will be jungle-oriented workshops, talks, informal group discussions, tropical exploration, and riverside recreation.

You will learn from experts on a diverse range of subjects, collaborate on Ideas Into Action, and forge bonds with fellow social entrepreneurs as we explore how to build a better future. There will be music. Fresh organic food. And friendships that will last the rest of your life.

And of course, we will ring in the New Year together in epic fashion, amidst the intoxicating skyline of Panama City.

Those who choose to stay longer in Panama can create their own adventures or join a group excursion with other attendees. We will provide local tour information for the best travel advice.

Amazing! But how much does it cost?

Just $600 will cover your jungle transportation and accommodations, all meals, and all programming including entry to a private New Year’s party. Flights to Panama City are not included and must be booked independently. Many international airlines fly direct to Panama City.

When should I arrive?

You need to be in Panama City by 5PM on the 28th, so a shuttle can take you to the jungle property in time for the welcome dinner.

This sounds pretty amazing. Any other reasons why should I attend?

Because it’s time to take the TEDx experience to a whole new dimension. And what better way to welcome 2014 than with the most incredible and passionate communities in the world?

You’ll walk away with hard, actionable knowledge and a horde of contacts who are ready to take things to the next level.

Getting to do it all in one of Earth’s most magnificent ecosystems doesn’t hurt, either.

And what do you mean by “off the grid”?

This Adventure takes place deep in the heart of the tropical rainforest, where our camp is on a farm surrounded by valley ridges. While you might learn about composting, farming, and outdoor living, amenities such as flush toilets, showers, and pop-up restaurants will be available.

Expect little more than fires and your headlamp to compete with the stars at night. Yes, you will be able to check your e-mail at internet stations, but wi-fi access around the camp will be limited. Of course, emergency communications and transportation in and out of camp are available!

How many people will be there?

In order to keep things intimate, we are limiting attendance to ~100 people. So sign up before the spots fill up!

I’m in! How do I sign up?
